Alpha-lipoic acid, (also called R-alpha-lipoic acid), is an important component in mitochondria: it can be synthesized by the human body. Alpha-lipoic acid is known primarily as an antioxidant, but it also acts as a coenzyme and regenerates important vital substances such as the coenzyme Q10, glutathione, vitamin E and vitamin C. Alpha-lipoic acid can also be used for detoxification purposes, especially for mercury compounds. Due to its fat- and water-solubility, and in contrast to conventional chelating agents, alpha-lipoic acid is bioavailable in all body tissues.

Red Korean Ginseng – Important for healthy vessels
Red Korean Ginseng Leads to Recoupling of eNOS (Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase) and Restoration of the Endothelial Function
Disorders of the blood vessels and the cardiovascular system are widespread civilization diseases.
The so-called endothelial function is crucial for vascular health. An endothelial dysfunction is a systemic pathological state of the endothelium and can be broadly defined as an imbalance between vasodilating and vasoconstricting substances. The frequency of endothelial dysfunction increases with age. Continue reading
Tocotrienols and Tocopherols (Vitamin E) – Protection against Oxidative Stress, Radiation Damage and Uncoupling
Radiation damage is an annoying side effect of radiation therapy causing the so-called endothelial dysfunction, which often results in tissues damage.
Radiotherapy may cause damage to the cells of the vascular endothelium (endothelial cells), since oxidative stress is increased by radiation.
But not only radiation causes of oxidative stress. Continue reading
Astragaloside IV – Effect on Tumor Disease
The immune system is generally able to recognize tumor cells and prevent tumor disease. Typically, tumor cells are rendered harmless by so-called killer cells (cytotoxic T-lymphocytes).
However, it can be fatal when tumor cells develop mechanisms which make it impossible for killer cells to fight the tumor. Tumor cells masquerade themselves in a certain way, and thus the cytotoxic T-lymphocytes can no longer recognize them as such.
Certain tumor cells produce the enzyme indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase (IDO) in excess. Thereby tumor antigens are not “presented” any longer, which means that the immune system cannot recognize tumor cells as foreign anymore.

Heavy Metal Analysis – Risks and Correct Interpretation
Exposure to heavy metals can be the cause and trigger of many diseases as well as a hindrance in healing them.
Analysis Methods
- There are various analysis methods to determine the severity of heavy metal exposure:

Treatment of Vitiligo – Skin Deases (Hypopigmentation) – with Q10, Turmeric and Resveratrol
Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition characterized by a degeneration of melanocytes-producing skin pigments. Portions of skin lose their pigments. The reason for this appears to be a disturbed intracellular redox status caused by the lack of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant substances. [1] Continue reading
Natural Remedies for Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease which considerably reduces life quality. Especially with chronic diseases requiring long-term therapy, it would be sensible to use natural remedies.
Scientists at the University of Michigan researched the additional administration of curcumin in addition to mesalazine. Additional administration of curcumin resulted in a good treatment response in comparison to patients not receiving curcuma (placebo group) [1].
In another study, the effect of Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense) was compared with the effect of sulfasalazine. Eighty-two % of patients treated with Boswellia serrata and 75% of patients treated with sulfasalazine responded to the therapy [2].

Bioactive Folic Acid
Bioactive Folic Acid – Why?
Why is taking biologically active folic acid as opposed to biologically inactive folic acid so important?
The folic acid absorbed through food may be partially destroyed by cooking and industrial processes [1].
To compensate for a deficiency, biologically active folic acid should be used when possible. Synthetic folic acid must first be converted in the body in several steps into the active form. For the body, this is associated with energy expenditure and requires a series of enzymatic reactions.

BCAA – Branched-Chain Amino Acids
Proper nutrition is an important pillar for health, especially in old age. As is well known, too much carbohydrates and fats are usually eaten, instead of foods that are rich in so-called phytochemicals. This promotes disorders such as diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. At the older age, an improper diet is very common.
It is undisputed that a low calorific diet (calorie reduction) in connection with high vital substances (vitamins, phytochemicals) prevents diseases in old age and extends a healthy life.
The caloric reduction leads to increased activity of the mitochondria and improved antioxidant capacity. In view of the difficult feasibility of calorie reduction, substances mimicking the effects of calorie restriction are of vital importance.

Graviola – A Cure for Cancer?
The graviola fruit is also known as soursop or shawshopu. It naturally grows in Central and South America and in tropical countries, and belongs to the plant family of annonaceae. In natural medicine, the leaves of the tropical graviola tree are used for a variety of diseases. These include rheumatism, diabetes, asthma, hypertension, parasites, bladder infection, bacterial and viral infections, neuralgia, asthma and cancer. Continue reading
